You're going there anyway. Take someone along.
On Sawari, drivers don't take bookings — they offer the empty seats on trips they are already making, and choose who comes along.
How to offer a ride
- Offer a ride. Going somewhere? Open Sawari and offer the trip.
- Choose your route. Set where you start and where you're going.
- Set available seats. Choose how many seats you can share.
- Accept requests. Riders going your way send a request. You decide.
- Complete the journey. Drop riders off on the way and finish the trip.
What Sawari asks of drivers
Sawari's terms ask drivers who offer shared journeys to:
- provide accurate vehicle, licence and documentation information where requested;
- keep required vehicle documents and appropriate insurance where the law requires it;
- follow traffic and motor-vehicle laws and drive safely;
- not let anyone else drive the vehicle for a Sawari journey.
Sawari may ask for documentation or verification before you can offer journeys. Vehicle and licence information is handled as described in the driver data policy.
Contributions and Carpool Points
Where applicable, Sawari may facilitate a shared contribution for a shared journey, and Carpool Points may be offered as platform usage credits. Sawari doesn't guarantee that you will recover any particular amount of your vehicle or commuting costs.
Sawari is not for commercial transport. Drivers must follow the transport, licensing, tax and insurance rules that apply where they drive. In Karnataka, for example, the transport department has said that using private (white-plate) vehicles for paid carpooling is not permitted — read how carpooling works in India for the sources.
Frequently asked questions
How do I offer a ride on Sawari?
Offer the trip you are already making: set where you start, where you are going and how many seats you can share. Riders going your way send requests, and you decide which to accept. Sawari may ask for licence, vehicle and insurance information before you can offer journeys.
Do drivers have to accept every request?
No. Drivers choose which ride requests to accept. Sawari does not guarantee that a particular driver or rider will accept a request.
How does Sawari verify users?
Where applicable, Sawari may verify user, employee and vehicle information — for example a corporate email address or employee verification for corporate features, and licence, vehicle and insurance information for drivers. Verification lowers risk, but no platform can guarantee how another person will behave.
How do shared contributions work?
Where applicable, Sawari may facilitate a shared contribution associated with a shared journey; how it is calculated and collected can vary by service. Sawari is not for commercial transportation, and users must follow the transport, licensing, tax and insurance rules that apply where they travel.
What are Carpool Points?
Where Carpool Points are offered, they are platform usage credits. They are not currency, cryptocurrency, a bank balance or an investment, and are not intended to be withdrawn as cash unless Sawari expressly permits it. They may have expiry dates, limits or other conditions.
Is Sawari a taxi or ride-hailing service?
No. On ride-hailing services you book a vehicle and driver for your own trip. On Sawari, drivers share seats on journeys they are already making, and they choose who to take along.
